Unpacking how the Queensland Government plans to be a top player in the digital world by 2032
Did you know Queensland wants to be a top player in the digital world by 2032? That's why the Queensland Government has come up with a multi-faceted plan to make it happen. The plan covers three main things:
- digital market,
- digital customer,
- digital government.
The aim of this is to:
Close the digital divide: Promote access. affordability, and ability so that everyone can enjoy the economic and social advantages of a digitally-enabled economy.
Enable contemporary digital government services: Put people and businesses at the heart of government service, program, and policy design so that services are trusted, easy to use, and produce the best outcomes.
Improve connectivity for regional communities: Regional communities must have improved and more reliable digital infrastructure so they can connect, grow, and prosper. Connectivity improves access to education, healthcare, and essential goods and services, making it a necessity for all communities.
Industries and businesses excel: Existing and emerging businesses and industries will have the support they need to adopt digital technologies with the aim to adapt, grow, compete, and innovate.
Pipeline of talent for digital careers: Develop a pipeline of digital talent to grow secure jobs for Queenslanders, boost the economy, and ensure businesses have the digital skills they need to remain competitive.
Digitally-enabled government: Ensure the Queensland Government is digitally adept and enabled. The Queensland Government should continuously adapt and transform the way it operates, manages its data, and invests in digital technology.
Surveys reveal that many government officials feel their digital capabilities must catch up to the private sector. This gap is more pronounced in critical areas such as health and human services, emergency services, public safety, administrative operations, and local government.
The strategy aims to improve access to digital technology and power everything from commercial opportunities to social connection, education, and employment, local services and, healthcare. It is why the Queensland Government has committed a significant $200m investment over the next 3 years, to drive a better connected and more inclusive digital future for all Queenslanders.
How Truis helps Queensland government entities navigate to a more digital future
Truis has been at the forefront of Queensland's technology evolution since 1979. Our roots are Queensland-based, through and through. From our origins in the IT equipment trade to our status as a provider of comprehensive technology solutions and managed services, we have consistently demonstrated our commitment to advancing the digital capabilities of government entities across the whole of Queensland from city, to rural and regional areas, to nationwide.
We are not merely implementing technology, but reimagining how government services can be delivered in the digital age. We understand that effective digital transformation in the public sector is not just about technology but also about aligning with the broader goals of public service. Our commitment to sustainability, social responsibility, ethical standards, and economic contribution further aligns with the objectives of modern governance, where environmental stewardship and social impact are prioritised.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES)
When the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) came to us after one of the worst fire seasons Queensland had ever seen with the job to help empower people in situations where services personnel are isolated with no communication, we were determined to help.
What was required was a way to connect and empower everyone across the RFS and keep teams on the same page in real-time. A vital part of emergency response and collaboration, information flow unites teams and empowers people with a better vision and understanding of what’s happening when fighting and responding to fire threats across the Qld region.
Working collaboratively, Truis prototyped a new ruggedised tablet enabled with the QFES apps to be installed into 700 QRFS vehicles. Truis provided project management, software and hardware configuration, and logistics and deployment services, along with a cloud-managed network solution to manage their devices simply and securely.
Since rolling out the solutions, 12 more apps have been developed and are being deployed and Truis is standing shoulder-to-shoulder to support and maintain our firefighters throughout the whole of our Queensland region.
The next step
